Drivers License
This afternoon on April 10th (Good Friday) Alyssa took and passed her road test. She was really nervous but was happy that she passed. We told her the rules she will have to follow with driving the car. We also said now she'll have to get a job to help pay for the gas. She is looking forward to Frank traveling because she can use his car to go to and from school. I told her she'll have to bring her brother Jack home also. She gave me a look on that one.

College Search Begins
On Sunday, April 5th Alyssa and I headed to Siena College in Albany for a Junior Jump Start Program. There were different sessions you could attend that included information about financial aid to picking a major for a career. We were able to talk to current students, admissions and administrators. After lunchwe spoke with Diana McHugh from admissions for about 15 minutes then went on our campus tour. (By the way Diana is from Hopewell Junction and went to John Jay High School and graduated from Siena in 2006 with an English Degree). Alyssa likes the school and campus and is excited to apply in the fall.

50th Anniversary
On Sunday, March 29th Frank's parents celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary on the actual day they were married. On Saturday the entire family went to 5:30 mass at St. Mary's Church and then dinner at Shadows. On Sunday there was a celebration at Cappola's Restaurant for about 42 guests. It was a busy and fun weekend.
Completed Home Improvements
Well the roof is finally done along with the gutters. We are very pleased with the results of the roof for the front porch. All we have left to do is power wash the house and paint the front porch. We need to wait until the temperature gets and stays warmer. We've added some pictures of various stages of the construction process.

New Roof
I am so excited we are finally getting a new roof put on the house and our front porch will have a permanent built in roof that looks great. With the weather being rainy and snowy the last few weeks, the start date had to be pushed back. It should be done by the middle of next week. I'll add pictures soon.

Neighborhood News
For those of you who know my neighbors we have some news. First Louie Juncosa has retired from the City of Poughkeepsie Police Dept. after 33 years of service. His retirement party is March 1st at Christos. And his daughter Krystal just got engaged 2 weeks ago to a really nice guy named John Ream. They are planning a May 8, 2010 wedding in Manhattan. The ceremony is at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral and the reception is at a restaurant overlooking Bryant Park. Also his son Adam and his fiancee Karen are getting married in December 2009.
New Roof
Well it's time for us to get a new roof. We've been in the house for 17 years. Since we are putting on a new roof we've decided to add a roof to the front porch and new gutters. Mid Hudson builders will be doing the job. He will probably start at the end of February. I will show you before and after pictures once he starts. I just hope it doesn't snow or ice while the roof is being done.
